GVMC steps up preparations for corporation elections

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg recently directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for upcoming corporation elections. During a review meeting at GVMC, Mr. Garg emphasized the need to complete all arrangements well in advance, adhering to orders and guidelines from the State government and the State Election Commission.

The Chief City Planner and Zonal Commissioners were instructed to examine objections and grievances related to ward expansion and delimitation, taking appropriate action as per prescribed rules. Zonal Commissioners were tasked with preparing polling station-wise electoral rolls, accurately recording voter numbers, and verifying lists to ensure all eligible voters are accounted for and no names are duplicated.

Furthermore, Mr. Garg directed officials to plan polling station identification, personnel deployment, and election material management. They were also tasked with ensuring basic amenities at polling stations, including drinking water, electricity, lighting, toilets, ramps, and sanitation.
