From Nancy Ajram to Trevor Noah, UAE gears up for busy autumn of events

The United Arab Emirates is preparing for a bustling autumn of events, with over 100 major events set to take place across the country from late August to December. Despite the traditionally quieter summer months, the live events industry has adapted to logistical challenges brought on by the Iran war, and most of the original programming is still set to continue.

Arabic music concerts dominate the calendar, with Arab stars Najwa Karam and Nancy Ajram performing at major venues in Dubai and Abu Dhabi throughout October and November. Egyptian singers Tamer Hosny and Tamer Ashour join forces at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 17, while Amr Diab, a leading figure in the Arab pop scene, returns to Dubai on November 7.

Lebanese artist Hiba Tawaji collaborates with trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf for a chanson, jazz, and contemporary Arabic music program at Dubai Opera on November 27. Emirati composer Mohammed Al Qahoom leads the Heritage Symphonic Orchestra in a traditional melodies arrangement at Space42 Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 9. Abu Dhabi Festival kicks off its 23rd edition with a diverse lineup of classical music, ballet, and theatre performances from late October to early December.

International comedy also features prominently, with Arabic, Hindi, and English stand-up acts, as well as performances by renowned comedians such as Russell Peters, Mo Amer, Maz Jobrani, and Trevor Noah. Beyond music and comedy, the UAE's cultural calendar includes a range of festivals and fairs. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair returns for its 35th edition, featuring author talks, publishing discussions, and children's events, while Frieze Abu Dhabi, an international art fair, debuts at Manarat Al Saadiyat from November 20 to 22.

Dubai Design Week and Downtown Design showcase installations, exhibitions, talks, and workshops, alongside Sharjah's Focal Point and the Sharjah Film Platform, which focuses on independent and experimental cinema. Food enthusiasts can enjoy Taste of Abu Dhabi, a culinary event featuring 16 restaurant pop-ups, chef appearances, workshops, and family activities from November 13 to 15.
