Five held over upside-down Jalur Gemilang, Johor flags in state

Five individuals have been arrested in Johor, Malaysia, following investigations into three separate incidents involving the Jalur Gemilang and Johor state flags being flown upside down. Johor Deputy Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Hoo Chuan Huat announced that the arrests were made in Kulai, Iskandar Puteri, and Johor Baru South.

Three cases of flag misuse have been opened, and the completed investigation papers will be referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action. The five detainees were employees at the respective locations involved. Hoo emphasized the importance of proper flag installation and supervision, noting that many workers are often foreigners unfamiliar with the proper procedures.

In one case, a factory in the Indahpura Industrial area was temporarily shut down after the flags were found to be displayed incorrectly. A Nepalese security guard and a Malaysian woman associated with the premises were detained for four days to aid the investigation. Additionally, a factory in Iskandar Puteri's Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters was ordered to close after being found operating without a valid business license.
