Dubai-Sharjah traffic: Heavy jams hit E11 and E311 on Thursday morning

Motorists in Dubai and Sharjah experienced heavy traffic on Thursday morning, particularly on key routes E11 and E311, as reported by Google Maps traffic data. E11/Al Ittihad Road between Sharjah and Dubai had a considerable queue, particularly from Al Taawun and Sahara Centre towards Al Nahda, while congestion also persisted around the Al Nahda interchange.

Parts of D97 and connecting roads towards Al Qusais also showed red sections. However, some surrounding streets through Al Nahda and Al Qusais remained largely green, offering local motorists potential alternatives based on their destination.

E311/Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road also experienced significant delays, with an extended red section through Sharjah industrial areas and Muwaileh, including around Industrial Areas 11 and 15. Traffic appeared to improve after certain junctions, but motorists joining E311 should anticipate stop-and-go conditions. This congestion has been a recurring issue this month, with similar heavy traffic found on E311 through Sharjah Industrial Area and E11 around Al Khan, Sahara Centre, and Madina Mall in previous reports.

In contrast, other areas in Sharjah, such as E88/Al Dhaid Road near the Ruler’s Office and Sharjah Library, had predominantly green status, with only short red and amber patches around junctions. Roads around Al Fayha and Kuwait Square were also mostly flowing normally, although there were isolated queues approaching the roundabout.

Additionally, short bottlenecks were present around Al Mahatta and several local roads through industrial districts. It is advised that motorists should be cautious of a temporary diversion between Industrial Areas 12 and 13, which remains in place until August 30 for maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.

Weather forecasts did not appear to be the primary cause of this morning's congestion, with the National Centre of Meteorology predicting fair to partly cloudy conditions and a decrease in temperatures, reaching around 39°C in Dubai. For commuters traveling from Sharjah to Dubai, the main trouble spots were E11 around Al Taawun, Sahara Centre, and Al Nahda, as well as E311 through the industrial areas.

To mitigate potential delays, it is recommended that commuters allow additional travel time and check live navigation before setting off.
