Demanding rollback of key teachers’ examination, PhD scholars plan Bihar Raj Bhavan March tomorrow

On Thursday, students protested the rollback of the two-tier Teacher Recruitment Examination-4 (TRE-4) and called for a Raj Bhavan march on August 22. This march, organized by the All Ph.D. Holders and Research Scholars Association of Bihar, aims to support PhD scholars and researchers who have been agitating for 17 days over new recruitment rules for assistant professors.

Separate groups want the filling of vacancies for music teachers and librarians. The march will begin at Veer Kunwar Singh Park and proceed peacefully to Lok Bhawan.

Kumud Patel, convener of the association, stated that researchers are demanding Table 3A be implemented in the recruitment of assistant professors. This system evaluates candidates based on a 100-point scale, rather than solely relying on written tests or arbitrary screening criteria. The state government recently advertised vacancies for contractual assistant professors, and other demands include raising the maximum age limit for assistant professor appointments from 43 to 55 years, making assistant professor recruitment in Bihar's universities permanent and regular, implementing a domicile policy, halting the infringement on university and college autonomy, and granting service regularization to guest assistant professors until the age of 65.
