Dangerous tornado tears through Dover, Delaware; damage reported

On Thursday evening, a powerful tornado struck Dover, Delaware, according to the National Weather Service. The tornado was confirmed to be large and extremely dangerous, moving northeast at 30 mph over Dover Speedway. The weather service issued a warning, stating that this was a "particularly dangerous situation" and advised people to take cover immediately.

Dover, located in Kent County, was under a tornado warning until 6:45 p.m. EDT. The NWS emphasized the life-threatening nature of the situation, warning that flying debris could be deadly to those without shelter. Mobile homes were likely to be destroyed, and considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles was expected. Complete destruction was also possible.
