DA slams ANC over parody of Tania Campbell and Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate (VIDEO)
The roughly minute-long clip purports to show the pair in what looks like a mayoral office.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has criticized the Ekurhuleni ANC for a viral parody video allegedly created using artificial intelligence, accusing the party of engaging in a "cheap political stunt." The video, posted on social media by the Ekurhuleni ANC, features a conversation between mayoral candidate Khathu Rasilingwane and former Ekurhuleni DA mayor Tania Campbell.
In the video, which purports to take place in a mayoral office, the character of Rasilingwane asks what could be offered to Matlala, a controversial businessman, in return for VIP protection. The character of Campbell responds that they would install blue lights in his vehicles and award him EMS tenders. The conversation then takes a darker turn, with the same character stating that they would scrap the indigent policy and award services only to wards that voted for the ANC.
Following the video, the DA intends to file a complaint with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) over its use of an AI-generated video depicting senior DA members in a manner that allegedly reveals their corrupt and racist attitudes.
