Clothes with CBI badge, fake IDs: ‘Special 26’ style raid busted in Delhi

A fake CBI raid was thwarted at a businessman's residence in Delhi's Rohini area. Authorities claim approximately eight to ten individuals infiltrated the property, masquerading as Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI) agents. The family lodged a complaint stating the group claimed to be conducting a CBI search, but upon refusal to provide proper authorization, the police were called.

Despite the group's refusal to leave and insistence on being CBI officials, neighbors questioned their credentials and demanded a search warrant. When confronted to produce a notice authorizing the search, the suspects allegedly claimed the document was in their vehicle and left in pursuit of retrieving it.

Later, the family contacted law enforcement, sharing the incident details, including a purported WhatsApp message with the CBI Director's name and signature – though the message was deleted, a screenshot was submitted to the police. CCTV footage from the neighborhood also captured the incident. This fake operation has been likened to the Bollywood film Special 26, featuring Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee, where a group of impostors posing as CBI officials rob politicians and businessmen of their illicit wealth.
