Chitrotsav 2026 Draws Visitors With 150 Photographs, Rare Vintage Cameras In Bhopal

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh - The Chitrotsav 2026 exhibition, featuring the works of forty photographers from ten cities across the country, captivated visitors with its impressive collection of around 150 photographs. The event took place at the Lalit Kala Gallery of Ravindra Bhavan in the city, providing a platform for diverse artistic expressions.

Among the highlights of the exhibition was the "Vintage Cameras and Darkroom Printing" display, which showcased an array of 18 rare vintage cameras from the 20th century. This unique collection attracted a significant number of visitors who were eager to explore the history and evolution of photography.

To further engage the audience, a live demonstration of darkroom printing techniques was conducted. This hands-on experience allowed attendees to witness the traditional photographic printing process firsthand, providing a deeper understanding of the art form and its techniques.

The event also featured a felicitation ceremony, honoring the participants for their exceptional work. Based on offline voting by exhibition visitors, the People's Choice Award for "Chitrotsav Photographer of the Year 2026" was presented to Mayank Kushwaha. Kushwaha's photograph, inspired by travel and astro photography, stood out among the competitors and earned him the prestigious recognition.

Other notable recipients of the Prof SK Maval Memorial Award included Saurabh Bairagi (Varanasi) for travel photography, Chandraprakash Singh Rajput (Dewas) for waterfall photography, Jai Pathak (Bhopal) for capturing big cats, and Stension Jerome (Kochi, Kerala) for showcasing culture and traditions through his lens. These awards celebrated the diverse talents and unique perspectives of the participating photographers.
