Chelsea and Napoli in contact over a deal for Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea and Napoli are reportedly in discussions regarding a potential transfer involving striker Nicolas Jackson, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Italian side's manager, Max Allegri, has made securing a new forward his primary objective as the transfer window nears its conclusion. Following Romelu Lukaku's departure to Fenerbahce, Napoli are seeking to bolster their attack by adding depth and competition for Rasmus Hojlund.

Napoli have shown interest in Jackson, alongside potential targets from Arsenal and Manchester United. The Senegal international spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Bayern Munich but the arrangement was not made permanent. Since his return to Chelsea, Jackson's future remains uncertain, with manager Xabi Alonso questioning his role in the team, particularly after missing Chelsea's final pre-season matches.

With the Blues looking to shrink their squad and generate revenue, they have placed a £65 million valuation on Jackson.

Napoli's involvement in the race for Jackson could create a bidding war, which might benefit Chelsea financially. Other clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa, have also shown interest, but none have been willing to meet Chelsea's asking price. Napoli and Chelsea share a positive relationship, having recently agreed to a loan-to-buy deal for French defender Benoit Badiashile earlier this summer.

For Napoli, clearing squad space is a prerequisite before making a final decision on Jackson. Noa Lang is the most likely candidate for a move, with Galatasaray and Ajax reportedly expressing interest. Napoli's inaugural match of the 2026/27 season will be an away fixture against Genoa on Saturday.
