BJP demands Pinarayi Vijayan’s resignation as Keralam Opposition Leader over ED findings in CMRL case

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that Pinarayi Vijayan, the Leader of Opposition in the Keralam Assembly, resign following fresh revelations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its investigation into the CMRL money laundering case involving Vijayan's daughter, T. Veena. BJP State Vice President Shone George stated that Vijayan should step down if corruption allegations against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy during the UDF government are to be taken seriously.

George alleged that corrupt transactions spanning 30 years, starting in 1996, have been exposed, with all companies belonging to Veena created to cover up Vijayan's corruption and facilitate transactions. He claimed that money sent from India to the Gulf was later transferred to the US, and that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) transferred money to Veena without providing services in return, suggesting it was a bribe given to Vijayan.

The BJP leader also questioned why money received by Veena without providing services belonged to Vijayan, and claimed that if thorium has been smuggled from Keralam, it is a matter of national security.
