Bhopal: MoUs Signed To Link Youth Training With Industry Demand

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized on Thursday the importance of upskilling youth in line with industry demands, rather than solely focusing on academic qualifications. Addressing an orientation program at Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skill Park for 550 trainees, Yadav highlighted the need to align skills with the rapidly transforming job market driven by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

The state government signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several prominent companies during the event to facilitate better connections between skilled youth and industry opportunities.

Yadav stated that the government aims to augment the institute's training capacity from the current 2,000 students to a more substantial 10,000 students. He urged students to continuously enhance their skills and learn to work with new technologies instead of relying solely on conventional academic degrees. Reflecting on history, Yadav pointed out that around 150 years ago, a formal degree was not considered necessary for earning a living; instead, possessing relevant skills was crucial.

Concerning the widening gap between education and employment, Yadav advocated for skill-based institutions that can equip young people with industry-relevant training and improve their chances of securing jobs. A new multipurpose hall named Varahamihir Hall, constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 4 crore, was inaugurated at the campus.

This facility will be utilized for academic, cultural, and institutional programs. Additionally, the institute plans to expand its facilities by utilizing an adjacent 2.5-acre plot, which will eventually help accommodate a larger number of trainees in the future.
