APC Support Groups demands party reforms

Members of the Association of APC Resident Community Support Groups Worldwide (ARCSGWW) staged a protest at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat. Representing over 2.3 million members in Nigeria and the Diaspora, they demanded immediate constitutional reforms and increased inclusion within the party. The group, seen as the "grassroots engine room" of the ruling party, warned of nationwide peaceful protests if their demands were not met.

Luke Jacob, the group's leader, reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. However, the ARCSGWW expressed frustration over "internal exclusion" and "constitutional breaches" within the party's leadership. They outlined three primary resolutions, insisting that the National Working Committee (NWC) act to prevent electoral vulnerabilities similar to past state-level contests.

The group demanded the immediate implementation of the amended APC Constitution and alignment with directives from President Tinubu to uphold internal democracy. They rejected the notion that support groups are informal entities, instead seeking formal recognition as a "Statutory Organ of the Party." The ARCSGWW opposed the selective treatment of National Deputy Officers, calling for either full membership status or exclusion to prevent internal division.

Luke Jacob emphasized that members of the ARCSGWW, who hold Permanent Voter Cards and played a key role in the party's mobilization, are concerned about the party's cohesion ahead of future elections. They warned that if the NWC fails to meet their demands within two weeks, they will mobilize members for a nationwide demonstration.
