Will fact-checking explode in the 2030 presidential election? [Dureondureon AI ⑳]

The Korean media is exploring the use of AI in fact-checking, particularly during election periods. A seminar was held on "AI era news value and fact-checking evolution" where a professor from Kyung Hee University, Lee Jong-hyuk, presented a study on an "AI-based fact-checking system". The system uses a large language model and search-augmented generation function to verify facts.

In a test, the system was applied to 2025 presidential election debates and produced results that matched 52 out of 56 fact-checking articles from JTBC. The system can process large amounts of data quickly, but human judgment is still needed to interpret the results. The use of AI in fact-checking is expected to increase, and it may change the way news is reported and verified.
