2027: Why I chose to run with Obi — Kwankwaso

Former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has revealed his intention to run alongside Peter Obi as the vice-presidential candidate on the Nigeria Democratic Congress ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections. Kwankwaso, who made this announcement in a statement on Thursday, explained that their partnership is driven by the need for a fresh approach to governance.

As political activities heat up ahead of the upcoming elections, Kwankwaso highlighted the nation's critical state, citing soaring food and commodity prices, unemployment, high business costs, and insecurity as major challenges facing citizens. He urged Nigerians to reflect on the country's state and the kind of nation they wish to leave for future generations.

Kwankwaso emphasized that security, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and institutional reform are areas that urgently need government attention. He stressed that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket represents a shared vision for the country, not based on regional, religious, or personal considerations, but focused on accountable governance, economic opportunity, and inclusiveness.

The former governor called on Nigerians, particularly young people, women, workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and professionals, to actively participate in the political process and demanded accountability, competence, and results from public office holders.
