2,000 tech roles curated for fresh grads, workers looking to upskill, switch careers

Nearly 2,000 technology positions and training opportunities are available to recent graduates and mid-career professionals seeking to enhance their skills or make a career change, as part of a government-led initiative in partnership with firms such as Accenture, NCS, and Microsoft. The Company-Led Training programme, led by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), spans roles in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data, and software across over 20 companies.

These fields are areas where Singapore's workforce needs are expected to grow, according to Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, who announced the initiative on August 20.

The programme is part of the expanded IMDA TechSkills Accelerator initiative, which traditionally focuses on equipping tech and non-tech professionals with digital skills and transitioning them into tech careers. Teo addressed around 800 attendees at the Singapore Computer Society-organized Tech3 Forum 2026, held at The Ritz-Carlton, emphasizing the importance of developing human judgment in an era where AI excels in certain aspects, such as coding, analysis, and content creation.

"As AI becomes better at producing code, analysis, and content, the premium on human judgment will rise," Teo stated. "The ability to understand context, relationships, personal dynamics, and consequences often comes with experience."

The Company-Led Training programme aims to help successful applicants learn to use AI to develop applications and integrate it into enterprise systems in sectors like finance, healthcare, logistics, and technology. The full list of job roles is available on the authority's website. Additionally, 11,000 legal professionals are expected to participate in two newly launched AI courses through the AIxLegal programs, co-developed by IMDA, the Singapore Academy of Law, and the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association.

These courses will help legal professionals use AI for daily tasks such as legal research and case analysis.

Teo highlighted Singapore's competitive advantage in AI by focusing on four key sectors—advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare—that contribute over 40% to the country's GDP and provide employment to hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans. The National AI Missions, outlined by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in his Budget 2026 speech, aim to accelerate the development and use of AI solutions in these sectors.

Singapore's advanced manufacturing sector, which produces 20% of the world's semiconductor equipment, and its role as an international financial center that leverages AI, demonstrate the potential for the nation to maintain an edge and grow a vibrant AI hub.
