Vince Vaughn returns for more motor-mouthed intrigue in this first look at Bad Monkey season 2

Vince Vaughn reprises his role as the witty detective-turned-restaurant inspector, Andrew Yancy, in the upcoming second season of the Apple TV series Bad Monkey. The mystery-comedy, based on Carl Hiaasen's 2013 novel, picks up where the first season left off in October 2024, leaving fans wondering if the new season will be a sequel to Hiaasen's 2016 follow-up, Razor Girl, or an original story.

To address this, the release accompanying the first-look images confirms that the 10-episode season features an "all-new original story."

In Bad Monkey season two, Yancy is approached by a determined state attorney after witnessing a murder in Florida. The ambitious lawyer pairs him with a methodical forensic accountant to solve the crime. As Yancy attempts to regain his detective's badge, he finds himself caught up in a power struggle between rival criminal organizations and navigating a cast of colorful characters.

These include an intelligent mob boss, his volatile son, a tough yet compassionate young woman seeking his protection, his aging father, and Dr. Rosa Campensino (Martinez), who launches her own investigation into a mysterious rash.

Meanwhile, Yancy also contends with romantic complications and a bombastic animal relocation specialist whose business practices threaten the local environment. Bad Monkey season two is set to premiere on December 2 and will air weekly until February 3. Vaughn will be joined by series regulars Natalie Martinez, Charlotte Lawrence, and John Ortiz, while guest stars such as Malkovich, Yvonne Strahovski, Zavior Phillips, and Brent Morin will add to the eclectic mix of characters.

The new season will also see appearances from Sofia Boutella, Brent Morin, Joey Avery, Dax Shepard, Sam Jaeger, Margarita Levieva, Peter Billingsley, and June Diane Raphael, who join Yancy in his unique sunset existence.
