US envoy Sergio Gor hints at ‘downgrading’ travel advisory for J&K after meeting CM Omar Abdullah

On Wednesday, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and hinted at a possible downgrade of the US travel advisory for the region. Gor mentioned that the United States would be reviewing its travel warnings and suggested the area has significant beauty and opportunities for American tourists.

He praised the steps taken by the authorities in improving safety and security in the region, stating that New Delhi, the Chief Minister, and the Government believe they have made "incredible steps" to enhance the safety of the area. Gor emphasized that the US would be evaluating whether the current travel warning should be downgraded, noting the area's beauty and potential appeal for American visitors.
