Twisha Sharma Death Case: CBI Calls It Suicide, Examines Phone Recording & Other Evidence

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has declared the passing of former model and actress Twisha Sharma as a suicide, based on a forensic report from AIIMS, according to a 636-page chargesheet filed before a Bhopal court on Monday. However, the investigation is far from complete, with the CBI currently scrutinizing various pieces of evidence and expected to disclose additional details in a supplementary chargesheet.

Among the evidence, the CBI obtained a phone recording where Twisha's husband Samarth Singh and his mother, retired district judge Giribala Singh, allegedly discuss her. The agency has extracted voice samples from both the accused and is awaiting confirmation from a forensic laboratory regarding the authenticity of these voices.

Furthermore, the CBI has requested data from Twisha's basic phone and iPhone, which may offer further insights into the case, potentially revealing involvement from other individuals or identifying additional witnesses. However, the phone data has not yet been handed over to the CBI.

The CBI has also submitted a CCTV DVR from the accused's residence to a forensic laboratory. Should any evidence of tampering be discovered, the agency could initiate a separate investigation. Twisha's brother Harshit Sharma and Samarth Singh's phone have been sent for forensic data recovery as well.

Twisha lost her life on the evening of May 12 at her in-laws' residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal. Initially, the Katara Hills police conducted the investigation before the case was transferred to the CBI on May 25. Samarth Singh was apprehended on May 28 after being questioned for approximately eight hours. Both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh have been under judicial custody since June 2.

Legal representatives who reviewed the chargesheet have raised concerns about the lack of information on Samarth Singh's whereabouts following the filing of the First Information Report (FIR) on May 13. Reports suggest he went missing for several days before being arrested on May 21 from the premises of the Jabalpur High Court. The CBI investigation is ongoing, with the examination of phone data, voice samples, and CCTV footage still in progress.
