She has been praised as a "rockstar" by Trump for her intelligence, respectability, and commitment to his priorities of faster cures, innovation, lower drug prices, and support for Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement.

If confirmed by the Senate, Overton will need to balance various competing priorities, including Trump’s anti-regulatory stance, traditional Republican interest in lower drug prices, and Health Secretary Robert F. During her recent appearances with the president, Overton has promoted his health priorities, such as his deals with drug companies to lower prices and his recent order to split the MMR vaccine into three separate immunizations, despite medical consensus that it is safe.

Her nomination will face challenges from both sides, with Republican critics questioning her managerial experience and her role in the recent vaccine order, while abortion opponents express frustration over her potential to roll back FDA rules that made abortion pills more accessible.
