Tinubu approves key projects in health sector [FULL LIST]

President Bola Tinubu has given the green light to several key health projects in Nigeria, according to the Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved these initiatives during a meeting in Abuja.

The overhaul of the National Hospital in Abuja is one of the major projects. This includes the construction of a new administrative and management block, costing around N18.74 billion, and modular clinics and theatres for various medical specialties, which will cost approximately N64.92 billion. Additionally, a high-end wing at the National Hospital, valued at N103 billion, is set for completion within 24 months.

Another significant project is the development of a Neuroscience Institute at the National Hospital. This facility, with a cost of N69 billion, will provide specialized infrastructure for neurosurgical, radiological, interventional, and rehabilitative services for patients suffering from brain-related conditions.

The government's commitment to cancer treatment is also evident in the approval of a National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre. This centre, with a total cost of N302.3 billion, aims to expand cancer research, treatment, innovation, and capacity building. The FEC authorized the design, construction, furnishing, equipping, supervision, and commissioning of the centre, with a completion period of 36 months.
