Three-month-old baby girl found abandoned in Ada bush

A three-month-old infant girl was discovered crying alone in a bush near Dordoekopey in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region on Monday, August 17, 2026. The baby was found by 20-year-old farmer Julius Tottimeh, who was en route to his farm when he heard the infant's cries emanating from off the main path. Upon following the sound, Tottimeh located the baby beneath a tree, wrapped securely in a cloth.

Out of concern for the child's welfare, Tottimeh promptly picked up the infant and transported her to the Ada East District Hospital for assessment and care. The police were subsequently notified at approximately 10:00 a.m., with the incident occurring around 9:45 a.m., roughly 15 minutes prior to the hospital report. The background leading to the baby's abandonment remains unknown, as well as the time elapsed since she was left unattended.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events and identify the child's biological parents or guardians.
