Houston Texans receiver Jayden Higgins is projected to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, as per an insider with knowledge of his injury, who spoke anonymously to The Associated Press on Wednesday. Higgins suffered the injury while executing a route during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders in Houston on Tuesday.

Initially, Coach DeMeco Ryans had stated that Higgins was being assessed for a leg issue. This year's second-round draft pick, Higgins had anticipated playing alongside reigning Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins in the Texans' offense, which is spearheaded by quarterback C.J. Stroud.
