Taiwan stocks lower at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted down 1.47%

Taiwan stocks declined at the close of trade on Wednesday, following losses in the Plastic and Chemical sectors. The Taiwan Weighted fell by 1.47%. Desiccant Technology Corp (TW:5292) was the top gainer of the session, rising 9.95% to 210.00. Merida Industry Co Ltd (TW:9914) and Nichidenbo Corp (TW:3090) also showed strong performance with gains of 9.93% and 9.91% respectively.

Conversely, Ta Liang Technology Co Ltd (TW:3167) was the worst performer, dropping 10.00% to 693.00. Solomon Technology Corp (TW:2359) and Taiwan Microloops Corp (TW:6831) also declined by 9.30% and 8.55% respectively. There were 609 falling stocks and 390 advancing stocks on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, with 121 ending unchanged.

Oil prices saw a slight increase, with Crude oil for October delivery up by 1.09% and Brent oil for October delivery rising by 0.97%. USD/TWD was down by 0.15% to 31.90, while TWD/CNY remained unchanged at 0.21. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw a decrease of 0.13% at 99.43.
