Suresh Oberoi recalls 2004 BJP stint, praises Modi-Shah-Yogi, slams money politics

Veteran actor Suresh Oberoi recently shared candid insights about his brief stint in politics in 2004, praising the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Oberoi recalled meeting senior BJP figures like L K Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his initial association with the party. However, he eventually lost interest in politics due to his discomfort with the environment and the focus on money-making rather than serving the country.

Oberoi also expressed his admiration for RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, stating that he is a fan of the RSS but is not formally associated with the organization. He shared an anecdote about Bhagwat visiting his home for breakfast and his wife serving halwa to him. Despite his admiration for Bhagwat, Oberoi clarified that he has not formally joined the RSS.

In the interview, Oberoi questioned the narratives surrounding protests, particularly the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests related to the NEET paper leak controversy. He urged public figures to exercise caution before commenting on sensitive issues and emphasized the importance of researching the facts before voicing opinions.

Oberoi also criticized the impact of protests and activism, stating that he would never participate in such activities himself. Instead, he believes his contribution lies in his acting profession and finding solutions through established institutions like the Supreme Court and government officials.
