Mumbai: Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil urged students on Wednesday to make the most of their time, identify their interests and abilities, and actively engage in social work. During a two-hour discussion with students at Mantralaya, Patil addressed their academic, social, and personal concerns, as well as their experiences with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
He emphasized that student life is crucial for personality development and urged students to cultivate a sense of social responsibility and contribute to society.
Patil also revealed that the government is working on a proposal to provide monthly pocket money of Rs 2,000 to female students pursuing higher education. The aim of this initiative is to support girls financially and help them become more independent and confident. He further encouraged history students to go beyond academic learning and take on the responsibility of preserving the state's cultural and historical heritage by conserving monuments, architecture, and cultural assets.
In addition, Patil highlighted the government's effort to expand internship opportunities, enabling students to gain practical experience alongside their classroom education. He stressed the importance of open communication between students and educational institutions, and urged students to voice their concerns openly, while asking universities and colleges to maintain continuous dialogue with them.
