Salasya endorses Gachagua for 2027 presidency

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly backed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for the 2027 Kenyan presidential election, urging residents to support his preferred candidate during a recent event in Nyeri town. Salasya, representing the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), argued that Gachagua is the only politician currently listened to by all Kenyans.

In a follow-up statement on his official X account, Salasya confirmed his endorsement, stating, "President 2027 ni H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH." The endorsement positions Salasya among politicians increasingly aligning with Gachagua, who is building the DCP into a national political force ahead of the 2027 General Election. The relationship between Salasya and Gachagua has grown since their meeting in July, where Salasya thanked Gachagua for valuable guidance and mentorship.

Gachagua has been intensifying his efforts to consolidate support in Nyeri County, where he hosted over 3,000 grassroots mobilisers on August 17, 2026. The region remains crucial to Gachagua's political strategy, as he aims to challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration in the upcoming election.
