Robin Williams' children have taken over his Instagram account, which has been dormant since his death in 2014, to combat what daughter Zelda Williams describes as "rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness." In a post marking what would have been his 75th birthday, siblings Zak, Zelda, and Cody expressed gratitude that new generations are discovering his work, while longtime fans continue to celebrate his joy.

They emphasized the importance of authenticity, warmth, and care in preserving his legacy, stating that they want the account to be a safe and trusted space. In an Instagram story, Zelda further explained that the decision aims to share her father's unique talent and humor while fighting back against AI misuse. She acknowledged that it may be unsettling for some but emphasized that creating an authentic space is a proactive way to combat the issue.

Williams has previously expressed her disdain for AI-generated content featuring her father, urging fans to stop sharing such videos and warning against the "disturbing" use of AI to recreate his voice. Matthew Lawrence, who played Robin Williams' son in Mrs. Doubtfire, expressed interest in using AI to recreate his iconic voice, provided he receives approval from the family.
