Qatar Charity-supported Lukavac Islamic Centre opens in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Lukavac Islamic Centre and Mosque, a major religious and community landmark in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, was inaugurated in a high-level ceremony attended by leaders from various sectors. This project, supported by Qatar Charity (QC), represents years of construction and is poised to become a prominent place of worship, education, and community engagement for locals in Lukavac and the broader Tuzla Canton region.

In appreciation of Qatar's contribution, the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton, Irfan Halilagic, announced the renaming of a main street to "Qatari Street."

The inauguration ceremony, which featured representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina's Islamic Community, local government officials, and Qatar Charity, underscored the significance of the project. Qatar Charity's ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Meshaal bin Ali al-Attiyah, emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the two nations and reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting humanitarian and social development in the country.

Qatari Charity's general supervisor in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hassan bin Mohammed al-Nuaimi, expressed his greetings and congratulations to the Bosnian people, highlighting the centre's distinctive architectural and cultural value to the city. He stated that Qatar Charity, active in Bosnia and Herzegovina for over three decades, has always aimed to foster love, friendship, and cooperation between the two peoples.

The Lukavac Islamic Centre and Mosque is designed as an integrated facility, serving as a place of worship, a venue for educational and cultural programs, and a hub for promoting tolerance, education, and social solidarity. With multipurpose halls for conferences and seminars, equipped classrooms for Quran memorization classes, and other amenities, the centre aims to be a beacon of knowledge and faith, fostering community unity and development.
