Police remand home lesson teacher, father for alleged defilement of pupil, daughter in Edo

A 52-year-old home lesson teacher, Daniel Erumudonmoh Okhuilegbe, has been remanded at Oko Correctional Centre in Benin City for allegedly defiling his 13-year old pupil. The incident is alleged to have taken place on August 5, 2026. The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, disclosed this to newsmen while parading other arrested criminals in Benin.

According to Daaor, the complainant accused the suspect of abusing the trust placed in him and sexually assaulting the child. After the investigation concluded, the suspect faced the Benin High Court on August 14, 2026, and was subsequently remanded at Oko Correctional Centre. Additionally, a 42-year-old father has been remanded at the Benin Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter.

The crime is said to have occurred on August 6, 2026, in Iyahmo, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. An investigation was conducted, and the suspect was charged to court on August 14, 2026, and remanded pending further proceedings. Lastly, a 26-year-old man, Otaru Jonathan, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The incident is believed to have taken place on August 12, 2026, in Afokpella community, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. Preliminary investigation revealed that Jonathan took the child on a motorcycle to an unfinished building where he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her and gave her N2,000. The survivor was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation, and the suspect was arrested and remains in custody.
