Pimpalwandi Girl's Murder: Strict Action Against Accused, Case To Be Heard In Fast-Track Court

Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar has vowed strict action against those responsible for the alleged sexual assault and murder of a nine-and-a-half-year-old girl in Pimpalwandi village, Pune district. Calling the incident "shocking and deeply distressing," Pawar spoke with Pune Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill to review the progress of the investigation.

A 9-year-old girl was lured away by a neighbour on false pretenses and subsequently raped and murdered. Police have arrested a suspect and further investigation is ongoing. Charges of rape (POCSO) and murder have been filed, with a chargesheet expected in 15 days. Villagers are demanding swift justice, and Pawar has requested Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure the case is heard in a fast-track court to bring the accused to justice as soon as possible.

Describing the act as "extremely condemnable," Pawar demanded swift and exemplary legal action, stating the government stands firmly with the victim's family. She plans to visit Pimpalwandi soon to meet the bereaved family and closely monitor the investigation to ensure the guilty are dealt with strictly under the law.
