Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd speak candidly about relationship in upcoming UConn doc

Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd publicly discussed their romantic relationship for the first time in an upcoming Apple TV docuseries. The three-part series, "The Dynasty: UConn Huskies," is set to release on August 21 and will cover UConn's 40-year winning streak under head coach Geno Auriemma. Bueckers and Fudd, current teammates for the WNBA's Dallas Wings, revealed that they had never kept their relationship a secret, only choosing to share it privately.

Both players acknowledged that their friendship transcended the typical boundaries, describing it as "a spark a little bit different than what would just be considered a normal friendship."

The duo met at UConn in 2020, with Bueckers being a top recruit and Fudd following a year later. Their time together on the court and through shared injuries, such as ACL and meniscus tears, forged their bond. Bueckers missed the entirety of the 2022-23 season due to a torn ACL, while Fudd suffered her injury two games into the 2023-24 season.

Despite the challenges, their on-court chemistry improved significantly by the 2024-25 season. That year, UConn secured a 37-3 record and claimed their first national championship since 2016. Bueckers was named a first-team All-American for the third time and was drafted by the Dallas Wings in 2025, becoming the No. 1 overall pick.

Fudd returned to UConn for a fourth year, averaging a career-high 17.3 points per game and earning a first-team All-American designation in 2025-26. Together, they led the Huskies to a 38-1 record before losing to South Carolina in the Final Four. The Dallas Wings subsequently drafted Fudd first overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft, reuniting her with Bueckers.
