Our aim is to win CAF Champions League title, says Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko

Medeama SC's coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has declared the club's ambitions to claim the crown in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League following their Ghana Premier League victory last season. The team, sporting the Yellow and Mauve colors, have secured the domestic title in the 2025/26 season and will now represent Ghana in Africa's top club competition.

Medeama have been assigned a tough preliminary match, facing five-time African champions TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the opening leg. Despite this demanding draw, Tanko remains resolute, stating that Medeama is entering the competition with the intention of competing, not merely participating. "We are aiming to be among the teams that can win the CAF Champions League," Tanko told Asempa FM's Ultimate Sports Show.

Medeama will host TP Mazembe at the TNA Park on September 5, with the second leg set for September 13 in DR Congo, both encounters scheduled to commence at 15:00 GMT. Tanko, a former assistant coach of the Black Stars, is keen on leading the Ghanaian champions past Mazembe and further in their quest to elevate Medeama to the ranks of Africa's premier clubs.
