On Fedorov, Zelensky, Elections, and the Political Crisis

In the ongoing political crisis surrounding the upcoming elections in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chief Innovation Officer Mykhailo Fedorov both possess significant resources, but neither has made substantial preparations for this crucial moment in the nation's history. Zelensky still enjoys high approval ratings, global recognition, and unwavering loyalty from parliament and the government.

However, his team's lack of proactive measures in preparing the security system for the elections is concerning. Meanwhile, Fedorov, an insider within the Zelensky administration, brings valuable political technology expertise and substantial investment capabilities to the table. He is backed by Elon Musk's connections, a large informal team, and active street support.

Both leaders have vulnerabilities, yet neither has adequately addressed the challenges of the post-war electoral process. The Verkhovna Rada's working group responsible for preparing legislation for the elections has stalled, particularly in light of the EU negotiation process coming to a halt in April. Over 50% of citizens do not live at their registered addresses, highlighting the need for creative data verification methods and active voter registration efforts.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation, which plays a crucial role in public awareness, has not been a priority. Both leaders must work together to ensure the smooth transition of power, create a competitive environment for the governing institution of peacetime, and prevent possible Russian interference through cognitive warfare and an unprotected information environment.
