‘Nobody’s coming to save us’: Redblacks face Alouettes looking to avoid 0-10 start

Ottawa Redblacks head coach Ryan Dinwiddie has witnessed a wide range of circumstances during his nearly two decades in the CFL. However, this season marks a first for him as he leads the team to a 0-9 record, a start that appears to have ended their playoff chances with half of the season still to play.

Dinwiddie, who previously coached the Toronto Argonauts for five seasons and won two Grey Cup titles, has found his first year as head coach and general manager to be more challenging than anticipated. Despite the team's record, Dinwiddie and his players remain committed to playing for the love of the game and finding their inner child's passion for the sport.

The Redblacks are the 13th CFL team to lose their first nine games in a season and have set a modern-day league record with their 15th consecutive loss last week in Winnipeg. This surpasses the previous record of 14 straight losses held by the now-defunct Shreveport Pirates in 1994. The Redblacks are also joined by a league-high 17 players on the injured list and are on a 13-game losing streak against the Montreal Alouettes.

With another loss, the Redblacks would become the ninth team in league history to lose their first 10 games in a season. Currently, Ottawa sits last or second-last in virtually every statistical category heading into Week 12, and the Alouettes are on pace for several offensive records. The Alouettes face Ottawa on Thursday, coming off of a game on Friday while Montreal returns with a fresh roster and a shorter injury list.
