No 'New Delhi magic' from Jun Hao this time

Malaysian badminton player Jun Hao struggled in his match at the World Championships in New Delhi on Wednesday. The world No. 27 failed to replicate his impressive win over China's Asian Games champion Li Shi Feng from the previous year. In a 62-minute encounter, Jun Hao lost 21-19, 21-19 to world No. 9 Li Shi Feng. Despite starting strong, Jun Hao found himself trailing and struggled to catch up.

National singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen has warned that it's difficult to turn things around against top-10 players if they build a significant lead. Jun Hao expressed his disappointment, stating that he fought point by point until the end. This loss extends Li Shi Feng's winning streak against Jun Hao to 9-1. Jun Hao's defeat also ends Malaysia's men's singles campaign in New Delhi, following his loss to Japan's world No. 24 Kenta Nishimoto in Paris last year.

In the women's singles, K. Letshanaa had a tough match against China's world No. 3 Wang Zhi Yi, losing 21-16, 21-9 in 42 minutes. Malaysia's last women's singles hope, Wong Ling Ching, faces a challenging match against Japan's world No. 2 Akane Yamaguchi later on Wednesday.
