Musiala collapses during match for second time

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has suffered a second collapse during a match in the space of four days. The 23-year-old, who appeared dazed after coming off the bench in a 4-2 friendly win against Heidenheim on Tuesday, has been diagnosed with temporary, brief but treatable absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.

This incident follows a similar collapse he experienced six minutes into Saturday's 3-1 friendly against RB Leipzig in Munich. Musiala has since posted an Instagram statement to quell concerns, explaining that these episodes are part of his everyday life and that he is receiving excellent medical care. The Bayern sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed that the player would speak about the matter later, stating that they are aware of the situation and that Musiala is supported by the club and his family.

This is not the first time Musiala has faced such health issues; he missed the first six months of last season due to an ankle injury sustained at the 2025 Club World Cup, but returned in time for Germany's participation in the 2026 World Cup.
