India secured a significant 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first Test match at Galle on Wednesday. The win came in the second session, just before inclement weather arrived at the venue. Although rain was forecast for Galle, it fortunately did not interrupt the match. Manav Suthar was the standout performer for India, taking six wickets to help seal the Test.
Sri Lanka found it difficult to cope with India's bowling attack as the visitors moved closer to victory. India managed to clinch the 165-run win before the rain could affect the result. The timing of the outcome was particularly fortunate for the visitors, as rain arriving earlier could have disrupted India's momentum and delayed the match's conclusion. Consequently, India escaped the showers and claimed a convincing win in the series opener.
