Lightning kills pregnant woman, nursing mother in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the tragic deaths of three individuals, including a pregnant woman and a nursing mother, in a lightning strike in Gambiri village, Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib confirmed the incident, stating, "Yes, it is true that a thunderstorm has killed three people in Gambiri village."

A local resident, Abubakar Hussain, recounted that the victims were struck by lightning at around 5:29 pm on Monday while they were inside their home. The victims were identified as Hauwa Juli, who had recently given birth seven days prior, her daughter Fatima, and Habiba, who was the pregnant sister of Hauwa Juli. Habiba, the pregnant woman, survived the incident, while her newborn baby also survived.

The community is deeply shocked and grief-stricken, with the incident disrupting economic and social activities during the mourning period.
