Kar HC revoked KPSC chairman Sahukar suspension

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday overturned the suspension of KPSC chairman Sahukar, ruling that Governor Thawarchand Gehlot failed to follow proper procedure. Justice Suraj Govindaraj stated the Governor's order lacked a recommendation or advice from the state Cabinet. The court emphasized this decision addressed only the suspension's legality, without judging Sahukar's alleged wrongdoing.

Sahukar's legal team argued the Cabinet's subsequent approval of the suspension was invalid. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches across Karnataka and Gujarat, targeting 21 locations related to alleged irregularities in KPSC recruitment. The investigations focus on irregularities in the selection of 400 veterinary officers, potential answer-sheet manipulation and connections to officials.

Four FIRs were filed at Vidhana Soudha police station for forgery, fraudulent document creation, and accepting undue advantages. Arif Mohammed Mulla and Sikandar Chaudhary were arrested as alleged middlemen and placed in custody. The ED will examine bank transactions, documents, communications and seized records to uncover the flow of funds and identify those involved in the alleged recruitment manipulation scheme.
