José Mourinho: Rodri? A player shouldn't think twice about coming here

José Mourinho discussed his evolution and took questions in an interview with El Chiringuito. He mentioned maturing and becoming more controlled since his time with Madrid. Mourinho also addressed the negative press Real Madrid received for not holding public presentations following player signings. He attributed his absence from the starting lineup that day to a clash with a Castilla player while wearing glasses.

Mourinho commented on the dressing room culture, noting that players are asked to follow basic principles like arriving early, having breakfast supervised by a nutritionist, and exercising. He clarified that his request for players to arrive early and maintain discipline is common sense. Mourinho shared that he stays at Valdebebas when his children are not present.

Regarding Mbappé, Mourinho expressed his admiration for the player's talent but criticized the idea that he should have made an earlier impact. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and unity within the squad. When asked about Rodri's potential signing, Mourinho stated that Real Madrid does not require another player and has sufficient quality in their current squad.

He also denied the notion that Barcelona signed Rodri to keep him away from Madrid. Mourinho had spoken with Rodri a few times, and he believed the player's initial hesitation stemmed from doubts about joining Real Madrid. Mourinho firmly believed that Real Madrid cannot have doubts about signing a player, as the club must present a clear offer for the player to commit.
