Jomoro MP trains over 300 young people in skills development

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Transport Minister, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, recently organized a three-day skills training program for over 300 young people in her constituency. The initiative, in partnership with the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), aimed to enhance economic empowerment and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for the young participants.

The beneficiaries were predominantly young women, and they received practical training in various sectors such as agriculture, agribusiness, fruit juice processing, fish farming and processing, livestock farming, cereal processing, and soap making. As part of the programme, the beneficiaries will receive start-up kits and capital upon completion of the training to enable them to establish businesses and generate income.

The Personal Assistant to Madam Affo-Toffey, Godwin Alluekeh, highlighted that the objective of the initiative was to equip young people with practical skills that could improve their living standards. He assured the beneficiaries that they would receive continued support after the training to help them apply the skills in their income-generating activities.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative, stating that the training and support would provide them with opportunities to develop their skills and enhance their livelihoods. This program is expected to contribute to reducing unemployment among young people and promote entrepreneurship and small-scale businesses in the Jomoro Constituency.
