Jean Smart may break an Emmy record this year if she secures her fifth win for her role on "Hacks." The actress, however, largely dismissed the potential record as "a technicality" during an interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" during the finale of the HBO series. Smart, who has won the lead comedy actress award annually since 2021, expressed her gratitude to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her achievements on "Veep."
Louis-Dreyfus won seven Emmys over the show's eight-year run, though she only claimed six due to a loss to Phoebe Waller-Bridge for "Fleabag" in 2019.
