Isu TH: Pemimpin Amanah sedia lawan Asyraf di mahkamah, nafi fitnah

Ismail Salleh, a member of the Wahamat Committee, is set to confront Umno's Agong Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki in court over allegations of harming Asyraf's reputation via a Facebook post. Ismail denied any act of defamation or tarnishing Asyraf's image on July 24th. He stated that he merely reposted an AI-generated poster depicting several individuals holding positions related to the Tabung Haji (TH) between 2014 and 2018.

Ismail is willing to stand trial if legal proceedings proceed. "I only portrayed that between 2014 and 2017, under the administration of Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN), as per his account," he told FMT, emphasizing he was not naming anyone. According to Ismail, his lawyer believes Asyraf lacks legal standing to sue him regarding the defamation claim.

Ismail had already responded to the Written Objection (LOD) on August 11th. Earlier, Asyraf had informed him to have his lawyer deliver the LOD to two social media users accused of spreading false allegations about the TH issue. Ismail stressed that this action would damage his name and reputation. Also receiving the LOD were social media account owner Abied Abdullah, who claimed RM5 million from two individuals accused of defaming him by linking him to the TH issue.

Asyraf previously served as the deputy minister of religion from 2015 to 2018 under BN administration.
