Immigration Dept opens internal probe after fatal KL crash that killed three

The Immigration Department has launched an internal inquiry following a fatal road accident in Kuala Lumpur that claimed the lives of three individuals, according to the department's director-general, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban. The incident occurred early this morning on Jalan Sultan Ismail, where a department vehicle was involved in the collision.

Zakaria Shaaban assured that the department would fully cooperate with the police in investigating the cause of the accident, stating that the department respects the ongoing investigation process and will not make conclusions that might anticipate the authorities' findings. The department also committed to conducting an internal investigation to assess compliance with standard operating procedures and safety aspects concerning the operation of department vehicles.

The Immigration head urged anyone with information about the incident to assist the authorities, while requesting the public to respect the privacy and sensitivities of the victims' families. The department asked individuals not to share unverified images, recordings, or information related to the accident. The Immigration Department expressed its condolences to the victims' families and wished those receiving medical treatment a speedy recovery.
