ICTSI East Java seeks stronger trade links in Indonesia

The Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA) visited the East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) in Lamongan to discuss expanding trade opportunities and improving cargo connectivity between East Java and Eastern Indonesia. Industry representatives gathered to explore freight development, market access, and transport connections through Lamongan.

East Java’s role as a major production and consumption center highlights the need for dependable transport infrastructure to facilitate domestic and regional trade. EJMT, a terminal operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), recently welcomed logistics industry representatives to the Lamongan Shorebase complex, where it provides access to port, warehousing, and bonded facilities.

The facility is connected to nearby industrial developments, such as the Jakamitra Industrial Park i-sentra project. The discussions focused on understanding freight patterns and the factors influencing transport decisions. John Largo, EJMT's chief executive officer, noted the growing interest in shipping routes linking East Java and Eastern Indonesia.

Sebastian Wibisono, chairman of ALFI/ILFA's East Java chapter, emphasized the importance of connectivity, competitive costs, and reliable transport options. As the logistics industry expands, improving transport networks and service reliability can enhance freight movement and support growth in both East Java and Eastern Indonesia.
