Khandwa Municipal Corporation Leader of Opposition Deepak Rathore walked into the city's dog bite hearings wearing a dog mask and submitted a memorandum. He alleged that the municipal corporation had spent around ₹40 lakh on stray dog sterilisation over the past four years, yet the population of stray dogs continues to grow. Rathore demanded an investigation into the funds spent, the tendering process, and the actual number of dogs sterilised.
He claimed that 13,225 people had been bitten by stray dogs in the previous four years and questioned why there had been no reduction in the number of bites or stray dogs.
