Hermitcraft charity brings Thailand’s first hospital gaming “Go-Kart”

Bangkok, Thailand witnessed the arrival of its first mobile gaming station, known as the GO Kart, at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital. Scar, a member of the Hermitcraft Minecraft community and a Gamers Outreach board member, announced the deployment 18 August via X post, revealing, "New country unlock by the Hermitcraft community. Thailand received their first GoKart!"

The portable gaming unit, designed by Gamers Outreach in partnership with the Hermitcraft community, can be wheeled to patients' bedsides, providing them with a television, gaming console, controllers, and a selection of games. This enables hospital staff to deliver entertainment directly to children undergoing treatment. Gamers Outreach, a non-profit organization, has been producing these carts since 2008, deploying them to hundreds of hospitals worldwide.

The Samitivej Srinakarin delivery marks the first confirmed GO Kart placement in Thailand, potentially the first in Southeast Asia as well. Hermitcraft, a renowned invite-only Minecraft community, has been one of the charity's primary fundraising partners. In 2022, community members held a charity livestream that raised over $439,000, funding more than 100 carts.

In 2024, they raised over $840,000 through Gamers for Giving, and in 2025, more than $847,000. By April 2025, Hermitcraft had contributed to the production of over 310 GO Karts, estimated to offer approximately 899,000 gaming experiences annually to hospitalised children. Scar joined the charity's board in 2025.
