Google Gemini Adds Study Notebooks to Build a Structured Student Learning Hub

Google is expanding its Gemini AI with study notebooks, a structured workspace designed for student learning. The addition provides diagnostic quizzes, personalized lessons, flashcards, practice quizzes, and progress tracking. The rollout starts with worldwide web access, with mobile support planned for later this summer.

The study notebook workflow begins with a diagnostic quiz to determine a learner's baseline knowledge. Following this, Gemini generates personalized, bite-sized lessons tailored to a student's goals and reinforces these lessons with quizzes. The notebook space allows students to upload sources, such as notes, PDFs, and websites, which Gemini can then use to create flashcards and quizzes.

Study notebooks also reference uploaded materials and sources while creating lessons, adding structure to the learning process. This structured approach moves the interaction beyond isolated prompts, providing a clear pathway for students to follow as they prepare for classes or exams. The rollout is global and available in all languages on the web, with mobile support set to launch later in the summer.
