Digital asset managers delivered significantly better returns on their digital investment products in 2025 thanks to aggressive strategies that invest primarily in equities with no focus on sustainability. A year-end evaluation by Fondsconsult, a consulting firm, showed that with fees taken into account, the average return was 10.2 percent, beating the global equity index MSCI All Country World (ACWI) which delivered 7.9 percent in euros.

Many Robo-Advisors benefitted from gold's strong performance in 2025, which rose by 45 percent. ExtraETF, a brokerage, estimates that Robo-Advisors managed more than 128 billion euros in assets in Germany last year, with giants like Raisin, Scalable Capital, Growney and Visualvest also among the top performers according to Fondsconsult.

Experts say that the suitability of these strategies depends on whether investors value their prices and fees. Two types of investors are best suited for these: "Delegators," who prefer convenience and time-saving features, and "self-disciplinarians," who look for simple structures that will not push them to sell during crises. Fondsconsult distinguishes between strategies with and without sustainability focus, as well as four risk classes from defensive to offensive.

In Germany, Robo-Advisors managed over 128 billion euros in assets last year. The highest return among the studied offensive portfolios was 14.3 percent from Ginmon, followed by Minveo's offensive strategy and Cominvest's sustainable portfolio. Many Robo-Advisor strategies profited from their gold positions, with some investing up to 20 percent of their portfolios in gold, driving performance.
